Things to Do After Beating Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Clear Any Outstanding Side Missions
Without spoiling too much of the main story in case you’ve headed here before finishing Shadow of the Tomb Raider, much of the chaos that goes on in this latest adventure for the archaeologist-turned-adventurer is her fault. As such, we only thought it was fair to send Lara out to help the poor NPCs she nearly dooms and complete some side missions. And while they’ll never task you with doing anything particularly exciting, they’re absolutely worth your time.
You’ll have no doubt reached a number of dead ends on your adventure through Shadow of the Tomb Raider, with the game hinting that you’ll need to return with additional equipment in order to access them. Or maybe it’s those damn locked chests scattered throughout the environments.
Either way, completing side missions will not only unlock a few trophies or achievements for you, but some of the incredibly important gear you need to access these blocked-off areas and locked chests can only be attained by completing side missions. If you neglected them in favor of powering through the main story, it’s time to head retrace your steps and explore many of the secrets Eidos Montreal has tucked away within the game’s world.

Enter the Photo Mode Competition
Perhaps side missions are all a bit too much action for you right after watching the credits flash by. That’s okay, too, and thankfully, the folks over at Eidos Montreal have come up with a nifty way to put Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s photo mode to good use.
Right when you start up Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you’ll be asked if you want to opt-in to the Photographer Mode competition. As long as you accepted (though this can be turned on or off at any time in the settings), you’ll gain access to “weekly photographer mode challenges shortly after launch.”
Exactly what these challenges will be each week remains to be seen, but if you want to make sure your skills are up to scratch ahead of them officially kicking off, return to your favorite spots on your adventure in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and grab an artistic snap. Who knows, it might win you some sweet swag or something!

Complete the Challenge Tombs & Prepare for the DLC
One of the most enjoyable bits of side content dropped into Shadow of the Tomb Raider to supplement its main story arc are the various challenge tombs littered throughout the game’s semi-open world environments. These offer some classic tomb raiding, puzzle-solving action, with various environmental puzzles and more to overcome in order to clear them. Not only can you net yourself a couple trophies or achievements for clearing all of these challenge tombs in the main campaign, but you can also prepare yourself for the incoming, and inevitably more challenging DLC tombs in the process.
If you particularly enjoyed your time with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, an additional seven challenge tombs will release on a monthly basis as of October, although one of these will be exclusive to Season Pass owners. Still, if you’re clamoring for something a little more taxing on your brain and less taking down bad guys, the DLC challenge tombs are well worth looking out for.

Finish Filling Out Lara’s Wardrobe
Whenever you’ve stopped at one of the many base camps in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you’ve likely seen you’ve got the option to switch up what Lara’s wearing. There are a number of different outfits that you can get to spruce up the adventurer’s fashion sense while she goes about saving the world, but you’ll need to get recipes in order to craft them at the base camp, and that’s where Crypts come in.
If you’ve somehow managed to play through the entirety of Shadow of the Tomb Raider without finding a Crypt, these are essentially very simple cavern areas you can dive into, that may contain a basic puzzle. Upon reaching the crypt itself, Lara can pull the lid off to complete it, find a recipe, and grab a bit of XP, too.
While these crypts are nowhere near as challenging as the tombs that you can complete in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, they’re the only way you can unlock all of Lara’s additional outfits. They’re also a nice, easy distraction, so if you’ve got any left over, might as well get them cleared!

Go for the Platinum or 1000 Gamerscore
If after snapping countless photos, completing side missions, putting your tomb raiding skills to the test, and filling our Lara’s wardrobe you’re still desperate for more Shadow of the Tomb Raider, then you can always go for the platinum trophy or full 1000 Gamerscore.
That’s going to take a lot to do, by the way, such as completing all artifact collections, completing a number of combat-related challenges, collecting critters, and even petting five llamas. Okay, maybe it’s not all bad, after all!
Still, chances are that if you’re going to go for the platinum trophy or full 1000 Gamerscore in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you’re going to have to start another playthrough on the ‘Deadly Obsession’ difficulty… unless you’re crazy and went for that on your first try. Still, we suggest grabbing the collectibles in your first playthrough, so you can simply focus on surviving in your second.
And there you have a handful of things to keep you playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider after you’ve beaten the main game. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
