What You Need to Know About the Solo Showdown Game Mode in Fortnite Battle Royale

There’s a new game mode in town, and it’s Fortnite Battle Royale’s Solo Showdown mode. While this doesn’t necessarily change any of the core gameplay mechanics that fans of the original Solo mode are used to, it does have a pretty major difference, so let’s run you through what you need to know about it.

Fortnite Battle Royale’s Solo Showdown is a Limited Time Mode, and is being used as a “one-off stepping stone to learn how to build great events for all types of players.” So don’t expect this to be a permanent fixture on the Game Modes screen.

Solo Showdown simply acts as a sort of competitive mode in Fortnite Battle Royale. It doesn’t change the core gameplay of the current Solo mode as previously mentioned. Instead, it simply offers players a chance of netting some pretty awesome rewards if they manage to place in the top 100 players in the mode over the course of the event.

In order to qualify, you’ll need to play 50 Solo Showdown matches. Considering Solo Showdown is only available from today, May 17, until May 21, that doesn’t give you all that much time to squeeze in 50 matches. • 1^st Place:  50,000 V-Bucks
• 2^nd – 4^th  Place:  25,000 V-Bucks
• 5^th – 50^th Place:  13,500 V-Bucks
• 51^st – 100^th Place:  7,500 V-Bucks

Even if you’re not lucky enough to rank in the top 100 players of Fortnite’s Solo Showdown mode, by simply playing 50 games, you’ll get a unique spray, so there’s always that.
