Resident Evil 2 Remake Characters

this war of mine, resident evil 2

The world of This War of Mine might not be as zombie filled as the police station that Leon and Claire are used to trudging around, but the Resident Evil 2 characters certainly know how to survive when the odds are stacked against them.

These two separate mods allow you to add both Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy to the game. They’re based on their prettier Remake versions and they’re sure to be skilled enough at surviving. If they can put up with a huge dude stalking them for half a game, This War of Mine’s world should be a walk in the park.

The Great Delicacy (Including Beer!)

A lot of what you’ll be doing in This War of Mine is scrapping together what you can to make food and drink to survive. This mod adds some more sustenance options, some of which your characters will want as soon as possible.

It adds Beer, Cream Soup, Hot Coffee, and Whisky, allowing your characters to get a little light-headed as they try to survive the war. Each on has a different impact on your character too, so you can see how they react to different amount of caffeine and alcohol.

Arthur Morgan

Maybe you’re the one with the plan now! This mod brings Red Dead Redemptions 2’s protagonist the the world of This War of Mine.

While Arthur can certainly hold himself well in the Wild West, with a bottle of alcohol in his pocket and a shotgun on his back, surviving in this war torn world might prove to be a little more difficult.

Cold War

In a world where survival comes down to your wits and good fortune, throwing just one additional element into the mix can mean the difference between life and death. So how about we make it really, really cold? That’s bound to end well.

The Cold War mod places a group of characters in a scenario where they are holed up during a conflict taking place throughout a particularly bitter winter. The lack of supplies and severity of the weather ramps up the difficulty significantly, giving players a unique challenge and really testing their mettle. It’s a winter wonderland, but only in the sense that you wonder whether you will end up as a particularly eerie popsicle.

More Loot

This War of Mine Mods

Loot, glorious loot! What wouldn’t we give for that?

By applying this mod, you’ll be given a fighting chance of staving off starvation, with slight increases in food, electronic parts, weapon parts and the like (pro tip: don’t eat the electronic parts). It’s nothing game breaking of course – don’t expect to be swimming in treasure like Scrooge McDuck – but if you want just that little bit of extra oomph to see you through, this mod will certainly help.

Visitors Helper

Keen to finish your day early but don’t want to skip ahead in case you miss out on potential visitors at your door? With the use of this mod, you’ll have your own designated visiting hours between 7am and 9am, allowing you to plan the rest of your day accordingly. Because after all, even in these tumultuous times, structure is critical to your pedantic wellbeing.

Weapons Pack 1

This War of Mine Mods

For the enterprising survivalist seeking more variety in their life. This weapons pack will add a few more tools to your arsenal, ranging from an assault rifle to a butterfly knife, all the way down to a golf club. The latter of which makes for an excellent melee weapon for clobbering enemies, as well as a reliable midrange option off the tee. Be sure to fix your divots, whether it is on the fairway or in a bludgeoned skull.

Rick Grimes

This War of Mine Mods

Don’t dead. Open inside. These are the words that represent the grim reality facing the people of the Walking Dead series, and they look to one man to lead them. Rick Grimes, a former member of the sheriff’s department, is a determined, steely-nerved individual who has to deal with (spoiler) the death of friends and family, (spoiler) his own dissension from the moral standards of humanity and (mega spoiler) a lack of running hot water that makes his hair a constant mess.

Inserting him into This War of Mine makes for an experience like no other, as he does stuff. And things. His major beneficial trait? He’s familiar with guns. Use this knowledge to your advantage and last another day with Rick by your side. Just don’t dwell too much on his rather shoddy track record of actually keeping people alive.

Cold Crisis

If you were keen on the chills offered by the Cold War mod, you’ll be delighted to know that there are more available with an emphasis on the frosty elements. Cold Crisis plays out similarly, as a sudden change in the weather has ruined crops and stricken the city with unbearable hunger. Meet the pair of new dwellers, Duarien and Dimitr, and scavenge for coal to keep yourselves warm in the harsh night. It’s pretty cool, both literally and figuratively, but mostly literally because it’s a terrible pun.

SkyMan’s Additional Items

This War of Mine Mods

Who is this mysterious SkyMan? What purpose does he serve? And why has he gifted us with this wonderful bounty? It’s hard to say, but we can only pray that the SkyMan is a benevolent figure, for his items bring us great joy.

This mod offers various consumables like bread, liquor, and cigars, as well as more weapons and fuel items that will prove valuable in the days to come. Careful management of the extra tools can yield lucrative results, should you be able to hang onto them long enough for the demand to increase. Also nice: this mod supports twelve different languages – which is enough to make Japanese people say arigatou, Portuguese people say obrigado, and Polish people say whatever thank you happens to be in Polish.

Lara Croft

Though she is better known for raiding tombs and things of that nature, Lara Croft is also adept at surviving in war-torn communities, it would seem. This much is made apparent with a mod that brings the popular character to Pogoren. Not as many things for her to climb and scale with catlike agility, but she might still find the occasional opportunity for parkour if she sets her mind to it.

Does she have the courage and willpower to be able to survive this war of mine yours? To be honest, her chances aren’t quite as good if she has Rick Grimes by her side. Just ask the few allies he has left.

Improved Item Stacking

This War of Mine Mods

On occasion, you’ll find yourself overwhelmed with the number of items at your disposal, and left with a crucial decision as to what is worth taking, and what can be left behind. It’s similar to when you see a trampoline sitting out in the alleyway behind someone’s house – sure, picking it up and taking it home with you may seem like a great idea, but you may regret it later when your hands are full and you’re unable to pick up the groceries.

Improved item stacking increases the number of goods you can carry, in most cases, multiplying the regular amount by three. At last, you can finally hold everything you ever dreamed of. Hopefully, you won’t happen upon three trampolines, though – then you’re in for a spot of bother.

Ellie Williams

This War of Mine Mods

Poor Ellie, she just can’t seem to catch a break. An orphan raised in a military boarding school in a quarantine zone, all she ever wanted in this life was to see the world outside of her prison. Alas, she ended up venturing to Pogoren, and that didn’t seem to work much better, either. Next time, she should probably try Hawaii.

At the very least, she has the tools necessary to fend for herself and protect others, so she ought to make for a valuable comrade in these times of uncertainty.

STALKER Music

This War of Mine Mods

Could this be the preferred radio station of the man who hides in the bushes outside of the mansion of his favorite celebrity? Or a mod that gives you access to a range of music from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games? You know what – either is just as likely.

With all kinds of music to suit any mood, including radio tunes and a sweet selection of guitar tracks, your days surviving the war never felt quite so ambient.

Longer Tool Duration

This War of Mine Mods

There are no prizes for guessing what this mod does (unless you think it means it will give you a duration with a longer tool, in which case you are sorely mistaken). Your fragile and valuable tools will now last twice as long, reducing the amount of time and stress spent scrambling to find a replacement. Feel free to now invest some time in that tinkering you had always been putting off.

War Is Strange

This War of Mine Mods

Max and Chloe make an appearance in this mod based on Life is Strange, alongside college pals Nathan and Victoria. They may be a clever bunch, but do they have the intestinal fortitude it takes to make it through?

This mod has proven particularly divisive in the community – one quick scan through the comments reveals the inner turmoil going through the hearts and souls of mankind. It’s enough to make you either shake your head or use it to frame your playthrough. Because, after all, war is indeed strange.

LiYunLong

This War of Mine Mods

This is most excellent in its absurdity. You may think you have a solid chance of survival with the ragtag bunch of misfits you’ve assembled, but you will not understand how exquisite combat can be until you have Li Yunlong at your side. Why Li Yunlong? Do not question it – just take one look at that picture and know the true meaning of war.

Not only is Li Yunlong capable of besting any threat that comes your way, we’re fairly confident he could fend off every other custom character on this list by himself. Blindfolded. Armed with a feather. Don’t even bother trying, if you value your life.

Gaben

This War of Mine Mods

Some mods are helpful. Other mods are fun. This mod is Gaben.

A true homage to the phrase that if everything is special, nothing is, this one graces your game with Valve co-founder Gabe Newell. His displeased glare will hound you at every turn and inspire you to reach new heights, though it really begs the question: how can a city be in such turmoil when a multi-billionaire saw fit to pay it a visit? There is perhaps more to this war than meets the eye, and it will take the combined efforts of Gaben and miscellaneous others to be able to set things right.
