Metal Gear Survive is finally upon us! It’s a dramatic departure from the series for sure, but those that are looking for any Metal Gear they can get, and are a fan of zombie survival games will likely enjoy what the game has to offer. Unfortunately, Metal Gear Survive’s UI can be a bit of a confusing beast to tame, so here’s what you need to know to start a game.

From the main menu, you can either launch the single-player campaign, or head into the co-op mode staging area. Do note that you can’t play co-op in the campaign. Once you choose the co-op option from the menu, you’ll be in the staging area.

The first thing you want to do is to go to the Accept Mission circle in the preparation room you’re dropped into in Metal Gear Survive and press and hold X on PS4 or A on Xbox One. Select your mission from the list that you want to play and select Quick Match if you just want to play with others quickly. Once they have entered your game, go to the Deployment circle in this preparation room to actually begin the mission countdown. Once the countdown has finished, you’ll find yourself ready to take on the zombies with your teammates. Let’s just hope you made the necessary preparations to survive.
