Pokemon GO: How to Get Coins From Gyms

HOW MANY COINS YOU GET FROM GYMS IN POKEMON GO

Recommended Videos

The underwhelming rewards for keeping a Pokemon in a gym in Pokemon GO were frustrating for many. Thankfully, that has changed with the game’s huge new update.

Instead of being awarded 10 coins for every day your Pokemon is in a gym, you get a coin for every 10 minutes your Pokemon is in charge. While, in busy areas, this means racking up the coins may be tough due to how frequently gyms change hands, in rural areas, strong trainers will be able to keep Pokemon in gyms for a long time and rack up a high number of coins to spend on in-game items.

However, you will only get your coins when a Pokemon of yours is defeated and leaves a gym. Therefore, while you may get a lot of coins when your Pokemon in defeated, it may take a long time for you to get them. Essentially, battling gyms and ensuring that you put strong Pokemon in them is now far more worthwhile than it was before the gym rework update. It is certainly a great part of the update.
