How to Play With Friends in ARMS

Recommended Videos

While you’ll still have a great time playing ARMS alone, the game is best experienced with a friend by your side. Whether you want to engage in some old-fashioned local co-op, or invite your friends to play online with you, we got you covered.

First off, you can play the Grand Prix, Versus, and Party modes with friends, but only in local co-op. Of course, you’ll first need to pair extra Joy-Cons or controllers to your Switch system before you can get started. Once everyone’s connected to the console, select whichever mode you want, and choose the option for the number of players you have. Grand Prix and Party have local support for up to two players, while Versus supports up to a total of four players. Just be sure to dock your Switch; trying to squeeze four people into a game of ARMS with just the Switch tablet may prove to be more than a little difficult. Believe me, I’ve tried.

If you don’t have a friend nearby, you can also invite them to a lobby if they’re on your Switch friends list. Choose the Friends option on the main menu and this will allow you to create a lobby. You can then invite players on your friend list to play alongside you.
