How to Open Doors in Fire Emblem Echoes

Recommended Videos

Many of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia’s maps are filled with obstacles or dangers for you to overcome. Occasionally you might stumble upon something blocking your path forward, like a pesky door stopping you from storming a keep. These don’t function exactly like they do in other Fire Emblem games, where you can use a thief or a key to open a door.

In Fire Emblem Echoes, you’ll need to travel around to the back of a door to open it. Each map that holds a locked door has at least one optional path that’ll let you circle around the back. Simply get a unit to the space behind the door, and select “door” from the action menu. Just be wary as there’s sure to be a host of enemy units blocking your path to open it. The best strategy is usually to send a couple of your strongest units and a healer to open the door, and then let the rest of your army flood through once it’s open. Just make sure to keep your healer protected from attack, as they have notoriously low defense.
