How to Unlock More of the Map – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

Horizon Zero Dawn’s map is pretty damn huge, and with this being the first time Aloy will have explored most of it, it’s understandable that your map will have a large amount of fog of war over it. Of course, this can be cleared, but you’ll need to utilize Aloy’s climbing skills.

You can unlock more of Horizon Zero Dawn’s maps by scaling to the top of Tallnecks and overriding them. There are about six different Tallnecks dotted around Horizon Zero Dawn’s world with each one revealing Campfire and Settlement locations and much more in a pretty big range.

It’s not just a case of finding one and simply climbing up its leg, though. First, you’ll need to track its path and survey your surroundings. You should find a ledge high up which will get you close enough to the Tallneck to leap onto it. Then, simply scale the yellow spines on its back until your reach the top. Once you’re there, admire the view and hold Triangle to override the Tallneck. Your map will then pop up and a chunk of the fog of war will clear.

That’s all you need to know to unlock more of the map in Horizon Zero Dawn. For more tips, tricks, and guides for the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
