How to Get Raw Mutton – ARK: Survival Evolved

Recommended Videos

Raw Mutton is the hot new meat of ARK: Survival Evolved, thanks to the addition of Ovis to the game. It can be used to tame carnivorous creatures much faster than kibble, even if at the cost of some effectiveness. When cooked, this resource becomes a Lamb Chop, a highly efficient food for your own mouth. But how do you get Raw Mutton?

Like most meats, Raw Mutton is attained by slaughtering an animal, specifically the recently added Ovis species.

Where to Find Ovis (Sheep) – ARK: Survival Evolved

These creatures are basically sheep, sporting a woolly coat and horns. You can find Ovis in the snowy lands of Winter’s Mouth, the snowy mountainous region in The Island’s northern section. While the Ovis themselves won’t do you much harm, this area is full of wolves and Sabertooths happy to collect whatever food you’re made of. If you’re not prepared to venture up there, you can rarely find sheep in open grasslands.

This is a passive species in ARK, so you’ll simply need to feed it a Sweet Vegetable Cake to make it your own. Using Scissors, you can sheer Ovis for Wool and use it to make Fur Armor. But if you’re just after that Raw Mutton in ARK, kill the sheep and collect your meaty reward.

Now that you know how to get Raw Mutton, you’re ready to collect (and probably slaughter) your own Ovis army. Good luck!
