Talk to Everyone
As you traverse through the dungeons in World of Final Fantasy, it might be tempting to just rush for the finish line. After all, the dungeons are long and winding, and the random encounters can prove to become quite draining as time drags on. However, if you take the time to explore your environments, you can get some very helpful rewards that will make your journey easier. In fact, there are tons of NPCs scattered around the land.
If you find an NPC in the dungeon, be sure to take the time to go talk to them. These friendly Final Fantasy icons will often provide you with helpful tips, healing items like potions, and some might even heal up your party for free. The heal bonuses are particularly useful, as you won’t have to waste potions keeping your party in good condition as you trudge through a dungeon.
Don’t Just Kill the Mirages
All monsters that you encounter in World of Final Fantasy can be caught. In this game, they’re called Mirages. Whenever you encounter a new critter in the game, try capturing them with your Imprism function so that you have more minions at your disposal whenever you want to customize your party stacks.
To capture or Imprism a Mirage, you have to fulfill some specific conditions. Some Mirages can be captured simply by weakening them, but most of them will require you to weaken them in specific ways or use special actions and spells. Don’t just knock out all the Mirages you see; take some time to get to know them, as they just might come in handy in an upcoming boss battle.
Check Your Stacks
Be sure to check your party stacks every now and then. As you capture more Mirages, you’ll have more options to experiment with when customizing your party. Mirages come in three sizes: small, medium, and large, so you’ll have to fill up your three Mirage slots with different sized monsters. Do note that you can gain different elemental abilities and weaknesses with certain Mirages, so be sure to equip the ones that suit your play style.
Lann and Reynn also have their Lilikin and Jiant forms, and you’ll always start a battle with whichever form you have them taking on at that specific moment in time. It’s a good idea to set up party stacks for both forms too, so you’re never caught off-guard when you’re experimenting with one form or another.
Topple the Enemy Stacks
When you’re fighting enemies and bosses in World of Final Fantasy, try to hit their weaknesses – it could be elemental or pure physical damage. Once you’ve found their weakness, keep hammering them with it, and eventually you’ll be able to topple the enemy stack and target the Mirages individually. While this does mean that the enemy team will have more turns to take, it also means that they will be a lot less powerful.
After a few turns, the enemy stack will be restored. However, if you can destroy one component of the stack, the enemy will be significantly less powerful even after they restore their stack. It’s always worth your time to try to topple the stack, so make sure to do so.
Use the Classic Menu
The default battle menu looks cool, I suppose, but its design just isn’t very intuitive. To start, you’ll have to push the left analog stick in various directions to access different abilities that your Mirages are equipped with. Furthermore, you can’t actually use items with the default menu.
I highly suggest switching over to the classic menu instead, and you can do so by tapping the left shoulder button on either the PS Vita or DualShock 4. This classic-looking Final Fantasy battle menu will list out all your actions neatly, and you can get to your different abilities much more easily than with the default menu.
