SUPERHOT, beginner's tips

SUPERHOT: How to Melee

A kiss with a fist is better than none.
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

If you’ve only just begun SUPERHOT, you may have wondered what to do when an enemy comes up close to you and you don’t have a gun or melee weapon available to stop them in their tracks. That’s where knowing how to melee and use your fists comes in handy.

Unleashing a punch on your enemy is actually quite simple, but it’s the timing of your attack that is the important part. To perform a melee attack, you just need to either use the left-click of your mouse or hit ‘A’ if you’re using an Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller.

When you’re wanting to pull off your melee attack, make sure that the character you’re targeting has turned from its previously shiny crystallized form to a dull striped red. This means the enemy is within your reach for a sweet haymaker right into their featureless face! The small fist icon where your reticle used to be is also an indicator that you’re safe to execute your attack.

It’s easy to get caught up in all of the action and to mistime your attack and leave you open for a melee attack from your enemy. So remember to take your time, stay still and line up your attack.
