If you’ve decided to work with the Brotherhood of Steel in your Fallout 4 adventure, you’ll be asked to go ahead and try and find the locations of a patrol that have not been heard from for quite some time.

The Lost Patrol quest requires you to go and find out the whereabouts of the lost patrol through a bunch of beacons which will emit a pinging noise the closer you get to them. There are four parts to this quest and some of them can be particularly tricky to come across. The quest also seems to have been a bit glitchy for some players with the beacon noises not pinging at all. Here are the locations of the lost patrol to help you out.

Knight Varham

Knight Varham Fallout 4

To find Varham, you’ll need to make your way to the West Everett Estates which can be found near the Malden Middle School. If you’re unsure of where the school is check around the Med- Tek Research building in the north central area of the Commonwealth. Wander around this estate area until a distress signal is picked up by your Pip-Boy’s radio and tune into the signal. Once you’ve done this the beacon strength should appear in your top left corner of the screen. Either way, you want to head toward the Brotherhood of Steel Battle site, southeast of the Med- Tek research building. Unfortunately, Varham is dead, so examine his body and take the holotag and holotape off him.

Scribe Faris

For Faris, head to the north Commonwealth zone and search out the Revere Satellite Array. Once you arrive here you’ll pick up the distress signal which, when followed, will take you to a tiny little building found on one of the satellite arrays. Once inside you’ll find that Fair came to meet a similar fate as Varham. Grab the evidence from Faris as you did from Varham and continue your search. Oh, and check the shack carefully, there’s a U.S. Covert Operations Manual in there but be warned, this area is heavily occupied by Super Mutants.

Knight Astlin

Fallout 4, Knight Astlin

Stick around the north Commonwealth zone for Astlin and head toward the National Guard Training Yard. There are a couple turrets on top of some of the buildings here and some Feral Ghouls lurking around so be careful. Again you should pick up the distress signal around this area which will lead you inside the National Guard Recruitment Office. There are quite a few Feral Ghouls lingering inside here too, so be prepared and don’t get swarmed or pushed into a corner. Head into the far right-hand corner of the building to find Astlin propped up against the wall. Grab the evidence off her body and move on on your unsuccessful recon mission.

Paladin Brandis

Fallout 4 theta bunker

Our final member of the lost patrol can be found in Recon Bunker Theta, also in the North central commonwealth zone. To get inside the bunker, enter the code 429A which can be picked up from Scribe Faris’ body. When you get inside you’ll be faced with Brandis. At this point, you can choose to solve the standoff peacefully by mentioning his name and being successful with a couple of speech options. You will need a particularly high Charisma level to convince Brandis to resolve the standoff, otherwise it will come down to a shoot-off between the two of you. If you end up killing Brandis, make sure to grab his tags and also his special weapon, Survivor’s Special. Alternatively, you can be a good guy and persuade him to return to the Brotherhood of Steel.
