How to Farm Destiny 2’s Dares of Eternity For New Craftable Weapons

Here's how to farm Dares of Eternity in Destiny 2.

With the release of the new Season of the Plunder for Destiny 2, Bungie has reintroduced numerous old weapons with new perks to play with. Among that group are the weapons from the Dares of Eternity activity, which not only come with the new Origin Trait Hot Swap, but the ability to craft them as well. This allows them to be customized as the player sees fit, as well as make stronger versions of them with Enhanced Perks.

Considering that Dares of Eternity hosts some of Destiny’s most desired weapons, from the Halo-esque BX5-Battler Pulse Rifle to the excellent Wastelander M5 Shotgun, now is the best time to begin pursuing your favorite god rolls. Doing so takes time and patience, however, since you do not get the ability to craft them immediately. This guide will show you how to farm Destiny 2’s Dares of Eternity for its new craftable weapons.

How to Farm Dares of Eternity in Destiny 2

  1. Collect Bounties from Xur

The very first thing you should do before doing any runs of Dares of Eternity is stop by Xur’s Treasure Hoard and load up on bounties. While Xur’s bounties do not provide any extra loot or reputation with him, they do provide XP which is important to acquire in order to progress this season’s Battle Pass. Might as well get them done at the same time as your runs!

  2. Collect Bounties from the Starhorse

This is the most important step to farming craftable weapons. In order to be able to make them, you need to earn five Red Border weapons per craftable weapon, which are rarer than normal drops. This means optimizing how and where you spend your Strange Coins with the Starhorse to get as many weapons as possible.

First and foremost, the Starhorse sells six bounties, each one costing Strange Coins, and rewarding Strange Coins as well as Paraversal Hauls. Five of them change daily, while the final changes weekly. You can hold only one at a time, so in order to complete them all you must do at least six runs, returning to the Treasure Hoard after each completion.

  3. Spend your remaining Strange Coins on Paraversal Hauls

Paraversal Hauls are lootboxes you can buy from the Starhorse, which reward exotic and legendary gear, strange coins, and most importantly Treasure Keys. These keys are what give you the best chance to get the Red Border weapons you will need, so it is important to get as many as possible.

While you can buy a treasure key directly, they are more expensive than Paraversal Hauls and do not give any Strange Coins in return. Since Paraversal Hauls are cheaper, reward most of the Strange Coins you spend back, and frequently drop Treasure Keys, they ultimately wind up being a much more efficient method. Additionally, they give extra loot that isn’t available anywhere else!

  4. Complete runs of Dares of Eternity on Legend difficulty

Completing Dares of Eternity on Legend difficulty for the first time after the weekly reset guarantees you exactly one red border weapon. While it isn’t much, it is a good start and helps provide players with a direct and deterministic way to pursue these weapons. While Legend is harder than normal, and contains champions, it is still a walk in the park for any fireteam that remembers to put champion mods on.

The boss doesn’t change randomly either, rather changing from week to week, so looking it up ahead of time means you can guarantee yourself infinite heavy ammo at the end as well! Additionally, Legend runs of Dares have a higher chance of dropping Red Border weapons over normal even after you do your first run.

  5. Spend your Strange Coins and use your Treasure Keys

Unfortunately, the player inventory can only hold a finite amount of Strange Coins and Treasure Keys, meaning it is important to keep track of how many you have in your inventory to optimize how many you can get. Once your inventory is full, and they start being deposited in the Postmaster, head to the Treasure Hoard. Buy as many Paraversal Hauls as you can, open them, and take your treasure keys to the chest in front of Xur.

While you aren’t guaranteed a Red Border weapon from the chest, it has a decent chance of dropping them. Open as many as you can, and hopefully RNG will be on your side!

  6. Craft the Weapon

Once you’ve earned enough red border weapons, go to the Enclave and craft it! In order to unlock all of the perks you will have to level it up for a while, but once you do you can pick whatever perks you like, including their enhanced versions!

Destiny 2’s Dares of Eternity is easy to farm, drops excellent loot, and is generally one of Destiny 2’s more fun activities. Getting the red border weapons should be fairly easy as long as you are lucky, and you might even have a chance at the incredibly rare The Other Half legendary sword, which only needs one red bar version to drop. It’ll take time and patience, but the weapons are well worth it!
