Hardcore Simmers using multiple Sims 4 mods can run into gameplay issues if one breaks or interacts with another one unexpectedly. Mods in The Sims 4 (scripts to modify or “mod” the way the game runs) can be as simple as new hairstyles, clothing, and other custom CAS items, or they can make huge changes to gameplay, like making Sims stop aging altogether or turning toddlers into demon spawn. But which mod manager is the best for serious The Sims 4 Simmers? Let’s get into it.

GameTimeDev or Raxdiam – Which Is the Best Sims 4 Mod Manager?

The two mod manager options from GameTimeDev and Raxdiam are popular among the Sims 4 community, and they both come with their own pros and cons. If you can only use one, and you’re looking for a proper breakdown of both options, we’ve got you covered down below.

The Raxdiam’s TS4 Mod Manager interface is deceptively simple. You can view and manage your in-game screenshots and mods all in one place, so you can easily see what’s working and what isn’t.

But where Raxdiam’s Mod Manager really shines is its ease of use. You can drag-and-drop multiple mods into the Mod Manager to instantly install them – no extraction necessary! Plus, you can enable or disable multiple selected mods at once with the press of a hotkey. Ctrl + Shift + E enables all the mods you have selected, while Ctrl + Shift + E disables them all.

Pros

  • Drag and drop multi-mod installation
  • Hotkeys for quick enabling, disabling, and deleting
  • Supports subfolders for easy CC and mod organization

Cons

  • No images of mod content
  • Dated interface

GameTimeDev’s Sims 4 Mod Manager is still in beta, but it offers a lot of functionality in an attractive interface. You can easily add new custom content and mods from anywhere on your computer using the “Add CCs” button, and manage all your existing mods under “Folders.”

The best part of GameTimeDev’s Mod Manager, though, is its thumbnail capability. Rather than making you guess what each mod does based on its name, GameTimeDev’s Mod Manager pulls thumbnails from the mod archive to show you what’s inside. If none are found in the archive, this Mod Manager will even search the internet for relevant thumbnails.

Pros

  • Thumbnail images take the guesswork out of mod management
  • Install mods from anywhere on your computer
  • Modern, attractive user interface

Cons

  • No subfolder support
  • No drag-and-drop installation (NOTE: Some older reviews show this feature on the GameTimeDev interface, but it’s not active in the currently downloadable version.)

Which Mod Manager is Better: GameTimeDev or Raxdiam?

While GameTimeDev and Raxdiam have each built a Sims 4 Mod Manager that’s easy to use and full of helpful features, GameTimeDev’s thumbnail functionality makes it the better utility manager overall. Both programs make it easy to install, enable, and disable mods and custom content, but the thumbnails in GameTimeDev’s Mod Manager take the guesswork out of the process.

So, there you have it. We hope this helped to clue you in on which mod manager is the best for serious The Sims 4 Simmers. But how about you?
