Can You Get Slimeballs Without Slimes in Minecraft – What You Need to Know
Slimeballs are quite versatile in the world of Minecraft. If you’re playing Minecraft with no mods, they can be used to make Magna Cream, Slime Blocks, Sticky Pistons, Leads and more. If you’re playing with mods, you’ll find Slimeballs on your crafting table quite often. As versatile as these green little balls are, they’re somewhat difficult to come by. Slimes aren’t in the open roaming around biomes like creatures such as Creepers or Cows. If you know where to look and when, though, you’ll soon have an inventory filled with Slimeballs.
Maybe you aren’t interested in tracking down Slimes. Sadly, if you’re playing standard Minecraft i.e. mod-less Minecraft, then it can be tricky obtaining Slimeballs  — there are a few ways, though.
Getting Slimeballs From Beehives
If you can find a beehive, which are equally as difficult to come by as Slimes, then destroy it. There’s a 75 percent chance it drops a single Slimeball. Seeing as you likely need a lot of Slimeballs for whatever it is you’re trying to craft you can see how the beehive method isn’t the most efficient.
Getting Slimeballs by Killing Slimes
For anyone looking to obtain a large number of Slimeballs, killing Slimes is the way to go. There are a number of ways to find Slimes in Minecraft, but we’ve got the most tried and true method for you.
First things first, travel to a swamp biome. These biomes are usually areas with dark trees and grass, lots of vines and a large amount of swampy waters. They’re often found in ravines or on the outskirts of a forest biome. Once you’ve made your way to a swamp biome, search for the flattest piece of land possible.
After that, look at your coordinates. To do this on Mac or PC, press the F3 key. On console, you’ll need to have a map to look at the numbers we’re interested in. With your coordinates open, make sure your Y-Coordinate is between 50 and 70. In between 50 and 70 is where Slimes generally spawn.
Now, find a dark spot – the light level of said spot should be seven or less. If you’re having a hard time coming by a spot this dark, you can create one by covering an area of the swamp with a cover of dirt blocks and walls. To be sure, check the light level when you think you’re good. To do so, look for the “rl” value in the second-to-last line of your coordinate text. With your light level good, make sure the area you’ve picked out has at least three blocks of vertical space.
Now, retreat at least 24 blocks away from the spawn area — Slimes won’t spawn if you’re within 24 blocks of the spawn area. Don’t go too far, though, as if you reach 32 blocks, the Slimes will de-spawn. Your next step is all about patience. Simply put, you need to wait for a full moon, as Slimes spawn more frequently during this period of night.
Assuming you followed the above steps correctly, you should see Slimes spawning in no time. Now, if you’re looking to farm, you should just build a house in that area and plan to hang around for a bit. The Slimes that do spawn here won’t spawn in an increased rate; they’ll spawn just about as regularly as any other creature.
When you see the Slimes finally start to spawn, take them out with a few hits. Unfortunately, there’s a chance they drop zero Slimeballs, but it’s more likely that they’ll drop one or two.
Getting Slimeballs From Pandas
If you can track down a Bamboo Jungle biome, you’ll be able to find Pandas. When Pandas breed, they’ll produce a little baby Panda, and these babies can sometimes sneeze out a Slimeball. We know. Ew, right? The only problem with this method, is that it’s rare to find a Panda, and it’s also very rare for the baby Panda to sneeze a Slimeball.
Getting Slimeballs From Wandering Traders
Another pretty rare way of getting your hands on those Slimeballs is by finding a Wandering Trader and trading with them. These chaps always have a Llama walking with them and are usually dressed in blue.
