How to Save in The Quarry

Time to take a break? Here's how to save your game in The Quarry.

The Quarry is Supermassive Games’ latest narrative-driven campy horror title, following the story of nine camp counselors on the last night of Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp. Of course, things don’t go to plan and instead of singing kumbaya around the campfire, you’ll instead spend 10 grueling hours trying to keep them all alive… or killing them all. In this guide, we’ll teach you how to save in The Quarry, so you can take a break from the heart-pounding action.

Saving in The Quarry

The Quarry features an auto-save system, meaning that you won’t have a manual save option, nor can you ever force the game to save. Instead, you’ll need to wait until the next ‘scene’ before you can safely quit knowing all of your progress has been recorded. Whenever the screen goes black, the chapter ends, or you complete a Quick-Time Event, this will also trigger an auto-save, so it’s at least fairly regular.

A scene change happens when you switch control of characters, or the time and location changes. This is indicated by them appearing in text in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. It’s also accompanied by the beeping of a watch.

When this happens, the game will save all of your progress up until that point. Similarly, when you end up speaking with Eliza, the fortune teller lady, between chapters, you’ll also have your progress saved immediately before and after these scenes, so we recommend saving and dropping out here, as they’re also a nice, natural break in the story if you wanted to play or do something else for a while.
