Pokemon Legends Arceus: How to Get & Use Grit Items

Pokemon Legends Arceus is the latest entry in the popular Pokemon franchise to be released for the Nintendo Switch, and it marks a rather radical departure from the typical series formula fans might be used to. The game features a semi open-world with a variety of instanced zones that you can explore to catch Pokemon, gather resources, and craft items. And of course, there are ways to improve your team’s stats as well. Here’s how to get and use Grit items in Pokemon Legends Arceus.

Getting Grit Items in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Leveling up your Pokemon’s stats is actually a lot easier and more straightforward in this game than in previous entries, though it might require some grinding on your part. With the use of Grit items (Dust, Gravel, Pebbles, and Rocks), you can increase your Pokemon’s individual stats up to level 10.

You’ll be able to get Grit items in a variety of ways, including:

  • Releasing Pokemon
  • Catching or defeating them in battle
  • Request rewards
  • Exchanging them with the Security Corps captain

  1. The easiest way to get Grit Dust and Gravel is by releasing Pokemon at the Pasture.

Speak with the Pasture NPC in Jubilife Village, and release any Pokemon you don’t want to keep. It’s not a guaranteed reward, but they’ll usually leave behind Grit Dust and Grit Gravel when you release them.

  2. You can also farm Grit items pretty easily by battling and capturing Pokemon.

Most Pokemon in the earlier zones will usually drop Dust or Gravel, but higher level ones and Alpha and Noble Pokemon have a chance of dropping Pebbles.

  3. Finally, if you find that you have a surplus of low level Grit items, you can exchange them for higher level ones.

Speak with the Security Corps captain in Jubilife Village, and ask to exchange items. 10 Dust will get you a Gravel, 10 Gravel will get you a Pebble, and 10 Pebbles will get you a Rock. If you plan on getting your items this way, expect to do a lot of grinding.pokemon legends arceus grit items

How to Use Grit Items

One important thing to note is that each Grit item type will only level your Pokemon’s stats up to a certain extent.

For instance, Dust can only get each stat up to level 3, while Gravel can only be used to upgrade stats that are already at level 3, and will cap them at level 5. Pebbles will take you up to level 9, while Rocks will get you to level 10.
