Elden Ring is a brand new open-world action RPG from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco, and it features a rich world with a complex history written by George R.R. Martin. There are quite a few major locations to hit up in this game, though some of them will be blocked off until you’ve obtained a key item or two. Here’s where to get the Academy Glintstone Key in Elden Ring.
When you get to Liurnia of the Lake, which is the second main region in The Lands Between, you’ll be tasked with heading to the Academy of Raya Lucaria to get your next Great Rune. However, you’ll need a Glintstone Key to get in.
Getting the Academy Glintstone Key in Elden Ring
- First off, you can access the Academy of Raya Lucaria via a portal at the center of the Laskyar Ruins.
Head to the gazebo at the center of the Ruins, and interact with the Portal to get to the Academy quickly.
- After arriving there, make your way towards the Academy Gate Town Site of Grace.
- From here, head all the way up north past the Temple Square, and you’ll see a huge black dragon sleeping beneath a giant rock.
This will trigger an optional boss fight with Glintstone Dragon Smarag, but you don’t have to fight it if you don’t want to. Check the screenshot down below for the dragon’s location, where our cursor and beacon marker is.
- Get on Torrent and ride to the spot just behind the dragon to find the Glintstone Academy Key on the corpse.
Once you’ve looted it, you can either escape the area and head back to the Academy to break the seal, or fight the dragon.
This will grant you access to the Academy of Raya Lucaria, giving you a whole new location to explore and a couple of story bosses to fight. There are also quite a few Sorcery spells to pick up here, along with some gear pieces you can farm from the enemies that should prove rather useful for Intelligence builds.
Second Academy Glintstone Key
One other thing to note is that there is a second Academy Glintstone Key you can get in the Academy itself. Start off from the Debate Parlor Site of Grace, head outside, and turn left up the slope.
Head up the stairs where the two sorcerers are, then turn left and jump over the railing and go up the steps there. Traverse along the rooftops –this is a pretty long trek with a few marionette enemies in your way– and you’ll eventually find a broken window leading to the rafters on top of the Church of the Cuckoo.
Hop in, and safely drop down to the chandelier below to get the second Key.
