One of the new gameplay mechanics added into Fortnite Chapter 3 is the ability to make your character slide. Not only does this look rather cool, it also provides you an opportunity to make yourself an even smaller moving target, while dealing out damage at the same time. Here’s everything you need to know on how to slide in Fortnite.
Sliding in Fortnite
To slide, press the Crouch button while your character is sprinting. On consoles, this means you’ll need to be sprinting (L3) and then press the right analog stick inwards (R3). This should cause the stick to make a little clicking noise, and your character will begin sliding on their knees in Fortnite.
For PC players, you’ll need to press Ctrl (default) while sprinting in order to slide in Fortnite.
It’s worth noting that we found we had to hold down Crouch when we were sprinting in order to make our character do this in-game.
Why Should You Slide?
Not only does it feel cool, but it makes you significantly harder to hit when you’re engaged in combat with another player. It lowers the height of your head, throwing off their aim, while also giving you the chance to unload some rounds into the enemy while still closing down the gap.
That being said, if you’re not used to the mechanic, this could throw you off a bit, so we recommend learning how long you tend to slide for, and how to quickly adjust your aim while sliding in order to deal damage and make it as effective as it can be.
