As you play through the games, you may be wondering why some of your Pokemon aren’t evolving through leveling up. That’s because certain Pokemon have special evolution requirements. One of these is Piloswine. Here’s everything you need to know about how to evolve Piloswine into Mamoswine in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
How to Evolve Piloswine Into Mamoswine
First of all, if you haven’t already evolved your Swinub into Piloswine, you’ll need to do that. Swinub evolves into Piloswine starting at level 33.
In order to evolve your Piloswine into Mamoswine, it must know a certain move. Specifically, it only evolves when one of its four moves is Ancient Power.
There is a chance that your Piloswine already had the move Ancient Power when you caught it. However, if it doesn’t know Ancient Power, or you replaced it with a different move, there is still a way to teach it to your Pokemon.
There is a Move Relearner in Pastoria City. Their house is located northeast of the PokeMart. He can teach your Piloswine the move Ancient Power in exchange for one Heart Scale.
If you need a Heart Scale, there are two ways of obtaining them. They can be found when mining in the Grand Underground, and there is also a chance of a wild Luvdisc holding one.
Once your Piloswine has Ancient Power as one of its four moves, it’s time to level it up. Battle with it a few times or give it a rare candy to make it level up once, and it will evolve into Mamoswine.
Mamoswine is a dual-type Ice/Ground Pokemon with high HP and Attack base stats. It is a good choice for rounding out your team if you are in need of a Ground-type or Ice-type physical attacker.
Where to Catch Piloswine
Piloswine and Mamoswine cannot be found in the wild in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, but its first evolution, Swinub, can.
You can catch a Swinub to evolve into Piloswine and then Mamoswine in two places in the game:
- Route 217
- Grand Underground
As a reminder, Swinub evolves into Pilowswine starting at level 33, and Piloswine evolves into Mamoswine when leveled up knowing the move Ancient Power.
