Resident Evil Village: How to Open Chained Gate

Capcom’s latest Resident Evil game might have changed drastically from the original blueprint, but many elements of its core design remain in place. That includes the focus on exploration that requires you to find specific items that open blocked passageways. Here’s how to open the chained gate in Resident Evil Village after you’ve killed the first Lycanthrope.

Once you’ve beaten the Lycanthrope, you’ll need to figure out how to progress further into the village.

After some light exploring, you’ll discover a gate with a chain holding it shut. The chain can’t be shot off, so you’ll need to find a different means of breaking it.

Go back into the house with the busted wall where you fought the Lycan and turn left. There you will see a shelf with some Bolt Cutters on it. This is the item you’ll need to break the chain and continue forward.

Pick up the Bolt Cutters, and then use them to cut the chains holding the gat shut. Once you do, the gate will be open, and you’ll be able to proceed into the Village or go back and forth between these areas with ease.
