The Fortnite week 9 challenges will release tomorrow, May 13, 2021 and will give players a chance to level up their Chapter 2 Season 6 Battle Pass and unlock cosmetics. There’s a total of seven Epic quests, awarding players with 24,000 XP for completing, and one legendary quest that tasks players with catching fish.
This week, the challenge ‘theme’ appears to be the storm that closes in on players as a match progresses. Four of the eight week 9 challenges involve the storm in one way or another.
Thanks to iFireMonkey for sharing the Fortnite week 9 challenges ahead of their official release on May 13, 2021.

Get Intel on Wildlife from Bushranger, Tarana, Rex, Chuck or Grill Sergeant
Simply head to any of the colored circles marked on the map below and speak to the corresponding character there to get intel on wildlife. You only need to do this with one of the characters to complete the challenge.
Bushranger can be found west of Pleasant Park at the red circle, Tarana is in the north shack of Boney Burbs marked by the green circle, and Rex can be found at Dusty Depot east of The Spire at the yellow circle. Cluck is at Primal Pond (blue circle), and Grill Sergeant is east of Stealthy Stronghold (orange circle)
Hunting a Boar – Fortnite Week 9 Challenges
Boars can be found in wooded areas like Weeping Woods, and away from built-up named locations. They can also be found around Colossal Crops.
Simply shoot at a boar when you see it and kill it to successfully hunt a boar in Fortnite.
Spend 7 Seconds within 7 Meters of a Fleeing Chicken
Fortnite chickens can be found in the following locations:
- Northeast and northwest of Colossal Crops
- East of Pleasant Park
- Northeast and southeast of The Spire
- South of Retail Row
- Steel’s Farm (east of Colossal Crops)
When you find one, simply chase after it and keep running close to it. Once 7 seconds are up, you’re all done.
Gain Health in the Storm – Fortnite Week 9 Challenges
This one’s easy. Grab a med kit or consumable item that grants health and wait for the storm circle to close in. Once the storm starts dealing damage, use your med kit or consumable.
There’s no set amount of health you need to gain while in the storm, so any health-giving item will do.
Shockwave Grenade Yourself While in the Storm
Another self-explanatory one. Make sure you pick up a shockwave grenade when you see one, wait for the storm circle to close in. Wait in the storm and then throw the shockwave grenade at the floor away from the storm circle.
This should then push you closer to the storm circle or out of the storm altogether. But it doesn’t matter which direction you go, in reality.
Survive Storm Phases (10) – Fortnite Week 9 Challenges
This one counts across matches, so don’t think you’ve got to somehow do this in one match. A storm phase ends whenever the storm circle shrinks. Make sure to stay alive for 10 of these and you’ll complete this Fortnite week 9 challenge.
Build in the Storm (10)
You need to build 10 structures while in the storm. This can be 10 separate ramp structure parts, and you can build these as you’re running into the storm circle. Make sure you’ve got at least 100 wood to complete this in one storm circle.
Catch Fish – Fortnite Week 9 Challenges
Fish can be caught in Fortnite using a fishing rod, or the harpoon gun. Aim either of them into a fishing spot and then use RT/ R2 to cast out your rod. Wait for a bite and then press the fire button again to catch the fish. Harpoon guns do this automatically for you.
You’ll need to catch 250 fish in total to complete all of the week 9 legendary quests, with XP being awarded after every 50 you catch.
