Nier Replicant: How to Fast Travel

After a long wait, and thanks in no small part to the success of Nier Automata, Nier Replicant is finally getting an English release with tons of gameplay improvements and additions. The core of the game still remains the same, however, and little idiosyncrasies and annoyances still remain in place, such as the somewhat inconvenient fast travel system. Here’s how to fast travel in Nier Replicant.

Fast Travel in Nier Replicant

First off, you can’t fast travel at all in the first half of the game. It’s only when you reach the second half that Popola will tell you that the canal has finally been repaired, and there will now be a boatman that can ferry you between major settlements without needing you to run around everywhere.

The boatman is marked by a triangle icon on your mini-map, and can be found in locations including your village, Seafront, the Desert, and the Plains areas. By talking to him, he can ferry you between these locations completely free of charge.

Just speak to him, select your destination, confirm your selection, and you’re good to go.

That being said, you do have to manually walk over to the boatman each time you want to fast travel, so if you’re hoping for a traditional point-and-click system via the map or something, you’re gonna be disappointed.

In addition to that, the fast travel system is only limited to a handful of places, and won’t take you directly to other key areas like the Junk Heap, Forest of Myth, Facade, or the Aerie.

You can still use the boatman to get to a closer warp point so you don’t have to run as far to get to these areas, but it’s still a hassle.

If you’re in the first half of the game, don’t forget to do the Boar Hunt side quest so that you can ride boars in the open-world to get around faster.

That’s all you need to know about how to fast travel in Nier Replicant. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
