Genshin Impact: How to Start Hu Tao’s Story Quest

Genshin Impact is the latest free-to-play gacha game from MiHoYo, best known for releasing the mobile game Honkai Impact 3rd. The developers have been updating the game pretty consistently since its launch late last year, and we’ve seen no shortage of new characters come and go over the past few months, with Hu Tao being the latest addition to the roster. Here’s how to start Hu Tao’s story quest in Genshin Impact.

Starting Hu Tao’s Story Quest in Genshin Impact

First things first, make sure you’ve updated your game to the latest version, then boot it up. At the time of writing, Hu Tao’s story quest should already be available to all players, but you do have to meet a few requirements in order to access it.

The main requirement here is that your Adventure Rank needs to at least be at 40 before you can start playing it. Once you’ve hit 40, press the J key on PC or use L1 to bring up the quick select wheel and go to your quest journal, then click on the Story Quest option in the bottom left corner of the screen.

From here, choose the quest titled Papilio Charontis and unlock it with a story key. Do note that you need to complete eight daily commissions in order to unlock a story key, but if you’ve been keeping up with your commissions and checking in with the game daily, you should already have some stocked up.

After that, Papilio Charontis Act I: Yet the Butterfly Flutters Away should be in your quest journal. All you have to do is select it and navigate to it, and you’ll be good to go.

Of course, if you want Hu Tao herself as a playable character, you’ll need to use your primogems and Intertwined Fates to try wishing for her and hope you get lucky with your 5-star pulls.

That’s all you need to know about how to start Hu Tao’s story quest in Genshin Impact. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
