Valheim is the latest mega-hit game to kind of just come out of nowhere and dominate platforms such as Steam and Twitch. It combines elements of survival, exploration, and building genres with a heavy dash of Viking culture paint to give the game something unique that other games can’t easily copy. If you’re here, you’re probably a bit confused about how to write on the signs in Valheim. Here’s what you should know.

How to Write on Signs in Valheim

Before you can write on signs, you should probably know first how to build a sign. It’s really simple enough. Signs reside in the Misc. part of the building menu. Select it, gather the proper resources, and you’ll be able to create a sign.

Now here’s the catch, unfortunately. While signs can be named and labeled, the text won’t appear engraved on the sign itself. As you can see above, whatever you have input only appears as a description when you interact with it.

When you build and place a sign in Valheim, you can interact with it and that will allow you to enter a name for the sign. This is where you can label it… whatever is it is you want to label it that will be helpful to you in-game.

That’s as far as you can go, though. Whatever you put in that entry slot, won’t appear on the sign itself. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but for now that’s just the breaks.
