Gleamy Ooblets are the rarest variant you can get of any of the cuddly creatures you come across in the game. While the ‘Unusual’ version is simply a different color to the standard Ooblet, the ‘Gleamy’ variant will literally glisten and shine as it follows you around or toils away on your farm. They’re also one of the best ways to get yourself a constant supply of Oobsidian, one of the rarest materials in the game. As such, it’s understandable that you’d be asking ‘how to get Gleamy Ooblets,’ and this guide will answer that question.
How to Get Gleamy Ooblets
You don’t need to do anything out of the ordinary to get a Gleamy creature. This is both a good and a bad thing, as you can just happen to bump into one when you’re wandering around Badgetown, but it’s also completely random if one will ever appear.
You’ll know a Gleamy Ooblet will be available for you to challenge to a dance battle and get a seed from it in Badgetown during the ‘Ooblets spotted today’ screen that you get at the beginning of every day.
What you want to look out for here is an Ooblet that is a different color to the common variant. It’ll look like the Ooblet fourth across on the first row below, albeit different colors depending on the Ooblet.
When you know that there’s a Gleamy Ooblet up for grabs, make sure you catch it that day. If you waste too much time doing other things and the day ends, there’s no guarantee it’ll show up again the next day.
Explore the world until you find the Gleamy Ooblet and then interact with it. You’ll need the required material or food before you can challenge it to a dance off, which is shown by the small speech bubble that appears when you select to dance with it.
From our experience, Gleamy Ooblet dance battles are significantly tougher than any other we’ve come across so far in early access, but make sure your Ooblets are trained up and you have a balanced team and you should be all set.
After beating the dance battle, confirm that you want to take a seed from the Gleamy Ooblet. Now plant this on your farm, water it and wait the number of days required. You’ll now have one of your own.
Getting Oobsidian from Gleamy Ooblets
Now that you’ve got one of these shiny creatures, you’ve got a small chance each day of being able to get some Oobsidian, but to do this you’ll need to build an Oobcoop on your farm and then assign your Gleamy Ooblet to it.
Keep checking the Oobcoop each day and with a bit of luck, you’ll receive some Oobsidian.
