Valorant Xbox One & PS4 Release Dates: What We Know So Far

With Valorant, Riot Games is borrowing elements of Overwatch and Counter-Strike to create a competitive 5v5 experience that feels familiar but fresh. Its blend of precision shooting, bomb disposal, and hero abilities make for a unique mashup. But what’s the deal with console players being left out? Here’s what we know so far about Valorant’s Xbox One and PS4 release date.

Valorant PS4 & Xbox One Release

So far, Volarant is only playable on PC, available as a free-to-play download via the game’s official website. As for a console release, there’s nothing in the works right now and Riot Games is staying quiet on the matter.

The official word is that Valorant is a PC-only game, though the developer would consider other platforms in the future. It’s likely everything will depend on just how successful Valorant is.

So how do we know all this?

Earlier this year, an interview with Valorant lead designer Trevor Romleski conducted by TimTheTatMan’s Twitch channel yielded the following response on the matter of a console release:

“Our (Riot Games’) focus right now is on PC. We’re open to exploring new opportunities for other platforms, but for the time being what our current focus is, is on the PC platform.”

So there you have it — certainly, for 2020, a console release looks highly unlikely for Valorant. But we’d guess that if the game garners a big following this year then Riot will open up its launch to PS4, Xbox One, and the next console generation moving forward.

After all, League of Legends is coming to consoles and mobile soon, so the developer certainly has an interest in expanding to new markets, even with a game belonging to a PC-centric genre.

That’s everything we know so far about Valorant’s Xbox One and PS4 release date. For more on the game, Twinfinite has you covered over the next couple of weeks as we get acquainted with Riot’s new shooter.
