With the release of the Isle of Armor expansion for Pokemon Sword & Shield comes a whole slew of new features to utilize. One of those additions comes in the form of Max Soup, which is one of the more useful creations for the DLC release. Here is how to make max soup in Pokemon Sword & Shield’s Isle of Armor DLC and what it does.
Making Max Soup in Pokemon Sword and Shield Isle of Armor
The Dojo Trials
First of all, you must make your way through the beginning trials given to you by Mustard, the master of the dojo.
After completing the first trial, the second trial includes searching for Max Mushrooms in the Forest of Focus. Fortunately for you, Mustard has let you in on the secret that Pokemon have already cleared out the forest, and the only place to find them now is in the Warm-Up Tunnel.
After making your way through the Forest of Focus and Training Lowlands, you will find the Warm-Up Tunnel which leads out to the Potbottom Desert.
Quickly making your way into the short tunnel will have you discover the giant purple and pink mushrooms sitting there waiting for the picking.
After a quick battle with either Klara or Avery (depending on whether you have Sword or Shield), you will recover the mushrooms and be able to head back to the dojo!
Unlocking the Max Soup
After a brief story section and the completion of the trial, you will now be able to enter the dojo and brew your very own Max Soup, with your first portion free-of-charge.
With three clusters of Max Mushrooms you can brew another dose of the Max Soup, but what does it do?
Max Soup allows you to transform a standard Pokemon into a Gigantamax-form, meaning that any Pokemon that feature special variants to their Dynamax-form can be simply unlocked, skipping the Max Raid Battle grind completely!
Additionally, this will be the only way to obtain the Gigantamax-forms for the starter Pokemon Sobble, Grookey, and Scorbunny, as they cannot be found elsewhere.
Finding More Max Mushrooms
After picking this initial set, you will not be able to find more unless you take part in a Max Raid Battle.
Doing this will allow for a new set of mushrooms to grow somewhere on the Isle of Armor, but only in forest or cave locations, such as the Forest of Focus or Brawler’s Cave.
The Dynamax particles spread about the island after several battles, allowing for this growth, but you will have no idea specifically where they will sprout, so a lot of running around will be in order to locate this valuable fungi.
That’s how to get Max Soup in Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Isle of Armor DLC! Make sure to check out our wiki and additional guides for any other questions you may have.
