The Bigger Game – Watch Dogs 2
PS Plus Free Games Predictions
It’s getting close to that time of the month when Sony will announce what free games it will offer to PS4 players for the upcoming month. So we have some PS Plus free games predictions for July 2020 before that big announcement hits.
For the current month of June, those free games include 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII available from May 26 to July 7 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 available from June 2 to July 6.
Usually a larger AAA title headlines the list and for several reasons it’s looking like Watch Dogs 2 will be a possible contender.
Firstly, Sony has a record of including Ubisoft published/developed games on it’s PS Plus free games lists.
This includes Far Cry 2 in February 2012, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon in December 2015, Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry in August 2017, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier in June 2018, For Honor in February 2019, and more.
Secondly, the first Watch Dogs has been offered for free on the Epic Games Store recently in May 2020. Ubisoft seems up to offering its properties under this IP for free as of late, likely because it is vamping up for the release of Watch Dogs: Legion and are hoping more players will pick up the new entry in the coming year if they have played the first two entries beforehand.
While there is a chance it would be the first Watch Dogs and not Watch Dogs 2 offered on PS Plus (since the first has never been on the list before), it still would seem more likely for Sony to opt to offering the newer and better received entry in the series.
Thirdly, Watch Dogs 2 is often on sale and it’s price has dropped steadily since the game’s release in 2016. Right now it’s a whopping 80% off taking its price from $59.99 down to just $9.99. That sale is set to end on June 25, marking some perfect timing to place it on PS Plus in July after Sony has squeezed as many final purchases out of it as they can beforehand.
