Just a year after the release of the excellent remake of Resident Evil 2, the updated version of the third game in the survival horror series is here. As you’d expect, you unlock new weapons and items as you make your way through the story. So that you can make use of the shells you’ve found, here’s everything you need to know about how to get the shotgun in Resident Evil 3.
Where to Find the Shotgun in Resident Evil 3
The actual location of the shotgun will be pretty obvious as you play through the story of Resident Evil 3. You’ll come across it first in the Downtown area of Racoon City, in the Kite Railway building to be specific. However, you won’t be able to get to them straight away.
You will need bolt cutters to get to the Shotgun, and you get those a little bit later on. Once you’ve put the fire out, which we have a guide on to help you, you’ll get into the safe room that’s just before the Garage, where you meet the UCBS member called Nikolai. You’ll be able to find what you need there. The exact location is in the screenshot below.
Once you have them, you can head back to the Kite Railway building, use the bolt cutters, and then grab the shotgun.
As you can see from the screenshot below, which is what you’d see if you were outside in the main Downtown area of Racoon City in Resident Evil 3, it’ll be in the Control Office Safe Room.
Now, this screenshot shows what you’re looking for once you’re actually inside. It’ll be on the wall on the left side of the room.
The shotgun will be on the rack on that wall. You’re looking for one that looks like the one down below. We’ve already grabbed it there, so imagine there’s a shotgun on it.
You should have some shotgun shells by then, or at least have some not too far away, so you can use your newly acquired weapon to blast away zombies when they’re too close for comfort.
However, since the survival horror mechanics are a bit part of Resident Evil 3, you need to conserve ammo and pick and choose when you use it. Therefore, don’t go wasting shotgun shells on zombies when you don’t need to once you’ve got the weapon. You’re much better saving it for when you really need it.
