Animal Crossing’s April Update is here, and with it comes a gaggle of new features for all the islanders out there to sink their teeth into. One of these new features is an additional NPC – Leif, the cheerful sloth. Leif sells all sorts of eco-friendly goodies that players will no doubt want to get their hands on, so we’ve prepared a guide on everything you’ll want to know about how to get Leif Animal Crossing New Horizons’ Leif to visit your island.
How to Get Leif to Visit Your Island
The first thing to know about Leif’s visits is that there’s unfortunately no way to control them – whether or not he’ll visit your town on any given day is completely random. As of the April update, he’s officially joined the rotating cast of daily island visitors, where you’ll have one each day. Getting him is usually just luck of the draw.
However, there is one guaranteed New Horizons Leif visit – the first day after your game is updated. If you apply the update before running the game, Leif’s cart of goodies will be parked in your town square, ready for you to browse his wares.
Be careful though – starting the game up before applying the update will give you another random visitor instead of Leif.
Leif’s cart offers a variety of different plant-based products, with his most notable offering being the update’s new addition to the game – shrubberies.
Shrubs and bushes act as a mid-sized plant, being larger than flowers but smaller than trees, and come in a number of different fun colors and varieties. Each time he visits, Leif will have a different selection, so make sure to shop his wares when he pops up.
Leif offers another unique service as well – weed collection. Normally, Timmy and Tommy will buy weeds from you at 10 Bells per clump, but Leif buys weeds at 20 Bells apiece. It’s not nearly as much of a moneymaker as the services that the bug-obsessed Flick and fisher-beaver C.J. offer, but it’s still a nice way to offload weeds you don’t need.
