Easily one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the year, Animal Crossing New Horizons is finally out now and available for purchase on the Nintendo Switch. As always, you’ll get to customize your very own house on your deserted island once you’ve forked over the Bells required for it. Here’s how to get wallpapers, rugs, and how to change them in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Getting Wallpapers and Rugs in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Wallpapers and rugs are some of the most essential key items you need to really customize your home and make it uniquely yours in Animal Crossing New Horizons. While wallpapers and floorings can be crafted (if you’ve got the DIY Recipes for them, that is), rugs will mostly have to be purchased.
Every once in a while, an NPC name Saharah will show up your island. For us, she appeared in the south, near the beaches. She will sell you one mysterious wallpaper and one mysterious flooring per day, but you can buy as many rugs as you want from her.
She sells small, medium, and large rugs, for the price of 1,000, 1,500, and 2,000 Bells respectively. She is by far the best source of rugs that we’ve found so far, and you can buy as many as you’d like to decorate your place.
On the other hand, Saharah only sells one mysterious wallpaper a day. However, as you purchase more rugs from her, you can accumulate exchange tickets. With five exchange tickets, you can trade them in for an extra flooring or wallpaper.
In addition to that, it’s also possible to learn DIY Recipes for wallpapers either through talking to your neighbors, or getting them randomly through message bottles in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
How to Change Them
Once you’ve got all your items, it’s time to start customizing your house. Head back to your home and press down on the d-pad to start customizing. Do note that you need to have paid off the 5,000 Nook Miles debt from the start of the game and have Tom upgrade you to become a homeowner in order to do this.
Once you’re in customization mode, you can press the X button to bring up your inventory and select the wallpaper or rugs you want to display. If they’re already in your storage, you can press right on the d-pad to access them from there.
Just like regular furniture, you can press the A button on a rug and hold the button while dragging the left stick to shift its position. You can also hit the A button to rotate it if you’d like.
That’s all you need to know about how to get wallpapers and rugs, and how to change them in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
