Crafting Items & Furniture in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Animal Crossing New Horizons is the first game in the franchise to feature item and furniture creation. There is a wide assortment of DIY Recipes that let you build everything from a Flimsy Axe that you can use to get more materials to a Bonfire that will light up your island at night.

To start crafting in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you’ll need to go to the Resident Services building located in the Plaza on your island. In here, you’ll find Tom Nook’s DIY workbench in the upper right corner of the building. Press A while facing the workbench and you’ll enter a crafting menu.

At a certain point in the game, you’ll even be able to craft your own DIY workbenches so you won’t need to rely on the one in Resident Services.

You can obtain new DIY recipes by collecting cards for these items. Next, you’ll select learn from your pocket menu while highlighting a recipe. Then you can head to any DIY workbench and try out the new recipe as long as you have the necessary materials.

Here’s a quick rundown on crafting in Animal Crossing New Horizons:

  1. Go to a DIY workbench.

The first one you can access is in the top right of the Resident Services building. You can also craft your own workbench.

  2. Select an item or piece of furniture.

You should now be able to see the list of DIY recipes you know. The word ‘craftable’ should appear on the image if you have the proper materials to make it.

That’s all there is to know about crafting items and furniture in Animal Crossing New Horizons. If you would like to learn anything else about this game, then just check out our Guides Wiki.
