What Rare Candy Does

As mentioned above, Rare Candy can be fed to your Pokemon to boost their experience level. This is obviously useful in helping them to grow stronger and learn new abilities, but it’s also very handy if you’re looking to evolve a Pokemon since most evolutions require a Pokemon to be at a minimum level.

Standard Candy comes in different sizes, which are as below:

  • XL – 30000
  • L – 10000
  • M – 3000
  • S – 800
  • XS – 100

Rare Candy is much more potent — it immediately boost your Pokemon to Level by 1 level.

East Lake Axewell Rare Candy Farming

Unlike in previous Pokemon games, rare items actually respawn in the Wild Area of the map and so they can be farmed. There is one spot in particular that spawns Rare Candy fairly regularly.

Head to the East Lake Axewell area on your bike. You’ll need to have upgraded it to be able to ride over water.

From the bank of the lake, cycle across the water to the Axew’s Eye and find the Rare Candy underneath the rock. This, like all rare items, will respawn once every 24 hours (at midnight).

Max Raid Battles

Finally, you can also farm Rare Candy by competing in 5-star Max Raid Battles. These 5-star battles have a 25% chance of dropping a Rare Candy once successfully beaten.

Max Raid Battles are the four-player multiplayer battles that feature the Dynamax mechanic. You can read more about how to join and compete in them How to Join Max Raid Battles.
