Pokemon Sword and Shield sees plenty of elements return from previous generations, not least of which being Friendship levels between you and your Pokémon. That’s why you’ll want to know where to get the Soothe Bell and what it does in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Where to Get the Soothe Bell and What it Does in Pokemon Sword and Shield
After reaching the town of Hammerlocke in Pokemon sword and Shield, you’ll have a wealth of houses, shops and other buildings to enter and explore.
One in particular, though, should be at the top of your priority list: The house to the right of the town’s Pokémon Center, just across the main road. This house contains several individuals who are integral to keeping track of how high the Friendship level is between you and your Pokémon, with one holding the Soothe Bell Item which boosts how much Friendship you can accrue.
To that end, head to this house after you’ve discovered Hammerlocke. Once inside, go to the blonde woman at the back of the living room. Speak to her, and after expositing a bit of dialogue, you’ll be granted the Soothe Bell to be used at your discretion.
Time needed: 5 minutes.
So, just to recap how to get the Soothe Bell in Pokemon Sword and Shield:
- Go to Hammerlocke
The NPC who gives the Soothe Bell to you is found there.
- Go into the house found to the right of the Pokémon Center
It’s across the main path that cuts through the town.
- Speak to the blonde woman at the back of the living room
After a bit of dialogue, she’ll give you the Bell free of charge.
How to Use the Soothe Bell
As for how you use the Soothe Bell in Pokemon Sword and Shield, it’s pretty simple.
Give the Soothe Bell to whichever Pokémon you wish to increase your friendship level with, allowing them to hold onto it. Doing so will increase the amount of friendship gained from any action that yields Friendship, from winning battles to playing at your camp.
This will make achieving evolutions tied to Friendship levels, such as turning an Eevee into an Espeon, Umbreon or Sylveon, much easier than if you were leveling them up through standard methods.
That should cover everything you’d need to know about where to get the Soothe Bell and what it does in Pokemon Sword and Shield. For more on the game, check out our guide wiki as well as our guides on hot topics like how to evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk and how to get the Pokerus.
