Restoring Stamina in Death Stranding

Thankfully, there is actually a few ways you can restore stamina in Death Stranding:

  • You can wait to let Sam catch his breath.
  • Drink Sam’s Monster Energy drink.
  • Sleep in the Private Room at a Distribution Centre.

For the first way, you need to hold circle while out and about. This will help Sam catch his breath so that his stamina bar refills.

You can also take a nap, either on some ground that is flat and safe, or back at a private room in a Distribution Centre.

If you want to speed up the rate at which the stamina bar refills while Sam tries to catch his breath, you can press square so that he massages his shoulders and stretches out his legs. It’s helpful if you’re against the clock or in a little bit of danger.

The second way involves one of the few similarities between our world and Death Stranding’s. Seemingly, Sam is a big fan of Monster Energy Drink, and it can be used to restore stamina.

To use it, hold left on the d-pad, find it in amongst your items, and then press X to drink it. It should refill your stamina up to its limit, so it’s best used when you really need it.

How to Remove White From Sam’s Stamina Meter

If you can see a little white section at the end of your stamina meter, which will usually be blue, you need to rest fully.

You will need to go to a Private Room and sleep to get rid of it and bring your stamina meter back up to full capacity.

Time needed: 1 minute

In short, to restore stamina in Death Stranding:

  1. You can hold circle to let Sam catch his breath, pressing square to stretch out too.

  2. You can also hold left on the d-pad and drink the Monster Energy Drink.

  3. To recover fully, sleep at a Distribution Centre.
