The Call of Duty titles have always prided themselves on having an accurate arsenal of weapons reflective of that time period… or just making cool futuristic ones for titles like Advanced Warfare or the Black Ops titles. Inspecting Weapons in Modern Warfare
Update 08/05/20: Today, Infinity Ward has added in an official ‘Inspect Weapon’ option into Modern Warfare and Warzone. To inspect your weapon, simply press left on the d-pad in a match. Your character will then give the weapon a quick look over so you can see all the intricate details.
Original: To inspect weapons in Modern Warfare, go to the Weapons tab in Multiplayer, select ‘Edit Loadouts’ and choose an option. With the weapon tile highlighted, press in the right analog stick (R3).
You can then use the thumbstick to rotate the camera around the weapon so you can have a good ol’ look at all of the tiny details Infinity Ward has littered its arsenal of weapons with.
Modern Warfare’s Inspect Weapon option is now actually called “Preview Weapon,” so if you see this as the option at the bottom of the screen, you know that this is what it’s referring to.
Unlike titles like Black Ops 4, it’s not actually possible to take a closer look at your weapon of choice in Modern Warfare while playing a multiplayer match. All of the d-pad directions have been assigned to different things, such as equipping night vision, using killstreaks, and changing the fire mode on your weapon.
What Does Preview Weapon Do?
Inspecting weapons simply allows you to get a closer look at them. Your character doesn’t clean them or anything to give it a buff in a multiplayer match, it’s simply there for you to appreciate how nice the weapon looks.
