Code Vein brings Souls-like gameplay to our screens with a beautiful art style and an anime vibe. It’s a great blend that’ll be sure to keep Soulsborne fans happy while they wait for what’s next from FromSoftware. Players will go exploring all kinds of sprawling areas, filled with monsters to beat and items to find. Here’s how to reveal area maps in Code Vein.
How to See More of Area Maps in Code Vein
Every time you begin exploring a new area in Code Vein, your map will be entirely blacked out. You can still see your footsteps on the map to see where you’ve traveled, but that’s about it.
This can make navigating Code Vein’s various areas pretty tricky, but there are two things you’ll need to find to reveal the map.
Activating Mistle
Every time you find a Mistle (think Dark Souls’ bonfire) and activate it, it’ll map the surrounding area, giving you a better idea of the general layout.
Mistle can also be used to level up your character and fast travel around the game’s various worlds. However, it should be noted that resting at one of these will respawn all enemies you’ve defeated.
It will also restore your health and healing items, so it’s not completely unfair.
Purifying Red Mistle to Reveal the Map
The other way to see more of your map in Code Vein is to look out for glowing Red Mistle that you’ll usually find tucked away on alternate paths, or attached to tough enemies.
These are Rotten Mistle, and if you walk over to one of these, or beat the enemy it’s attached too, you can press X on PS4, or A on Xbox One to purify it.
Purifying Rotten Mistle will also reveal the area map, but unlike regular Mistle, you can’t rest and open the menu at these. Purifying them will only reveal more of the map and nothing else.
That’s everything you need to know on how to reveal more of area maps in Code Vein. Check out our Code Vein guide wiki for more tips, tricks, and information on the game, or search for Twinfinite.
