Code Vein is the latest action RPG from the folks over at Bandai Namco. Taking some inspiration from the Soulsborne titles, Code Vein blends together compelling, strategic combat with a lush anime art style. To help you on your way, you’ll be able to make use of the Focus system in Code Vein. Here’s how to use Focus in Code Vein and what it does.
Code Vein Focus Explained
What Focus Is
Your Focus in Code Vein is shown by the small grey bar above your HP bar in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. This will constantly build up as you deal damage, take damage, and successfully dodge or parry incoming enemy attacks.
When you’re in Focus Mode (we’ll tell you more about that in a second), players will be able to launch enemies. You’ll also be able to equip Gifts that enhance your stats or abilities when you’re in Focus Mode.
For example, one Gift adds an ice effect to your weapon while Focused, while another decreases the amount of stamina you use while in this state.
How to Use Focus in Code Vein
Using Focus doesn’t require you to “use” that grey bar lingering above your HP. Instead, it’s all about filling the bar up. Once the bar is completely full, it will glow blue and you’ll automatically enter ‘Focus Mode.’
You’ll then be able to launch enemies and make use of your Gift’s various stat and ability enhancements during this time. Once the bar depletes, it’ll no longer glow blue, Focus Mode will end, and you’ll have to start filling it back up again.
