How to Upgrade Shinobi Prosthetic Tools in Sekiro

Recommended Videos

Developed by FromSoftware, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a third-person action game with deep combat mechanics and extensive skill trees to dive into. Here’s how to upgrade your Shinobi Prosthetic Tools in Sekiro.

Apart from deflecting attacks and stabbing enemies with your sword, you’ll also want to make use of your Shinobi Prosthetic Tools to give you an edge in battle. The base Tools are all pretty handy on their own, but you can upgrade them to expand the move sets for some of them, and really shake things up in combat.

Getting the Mechanical Barrel in Sekiro

Before you can start upgrading your Shinobi Prosthetic Tools in Sekiro, first you’ll need a key item called the Mechanical Barrel.

All you have to do is progress through the Ashina Outskirts area until you reach Ashina Castle Gate, where you’ll face the first proper boss of the game: Gyoubu Oniwa.

If you have the Shinobi’s Firecrackers, this fight should be fairly easy to clear. Defeating him will reward you with a Memory and the Mechanical Barrel.

Upgrading Shinobi Prosthetic Tools

Now that you have the Mechanical Barrel in Sekiro, head back to the Dilapidated Temple and talk to the Sculptor. He’ll take the Mechanical Barrel from you, and you’ll now be able to upgrade your unlocked Tools from a new skill tree.

To upgrade your Prosthetic Tools, talk to the Sculptor and choose the Upgrade option, then select the specific upgrade you want. Do note that you need to progress through the skill tree accordingly, which means that you can’t jump nodes and select whatever you’d like from the tree.

In addition to that, you’ll also need crafting materials like Scrap Iron, along with an amount of Sen to complete the upgrade.

That’s all you need to know about how to upgrade Shinobi Prosthetic Tools in Sekiro. Be sure to check our Sekiro guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
