How to Get SHD Tech & What it’s Used for in The Division 2

Recommended Videos

The Division 2 changes a few things up from the previous title, such as trading the dark snow-ridden streets of New York for a scorching summer in Washington D.C. and the way it handles unlocking Skills. Skills were unlocked by progressing through the story in the first game, while Skills in the new title must be earned through SHD Tech. Here is how to get SHD Tech and what it is used for in The Division 2.

Getting SHD Tech

SHD Tech can be earned by completing side and main missions, leveling up, and looting SHD Tech locations. Once you have earned enough, you will have to go to the Base of Operations to buy new Skills.

Most side missions in the game will reward you with Tech points, along with the main story missions. However, if you take a look at your map, you’ll find it littered with orange markers that are called SHD Tech Locations.

All you have to do is head to these locations, then look for a small cache box to open that up for your extra points. If you’re looking to farm Tech points, this is the best way to go about doing so.

What It’s Used For

SHD Tech is used for unlocking new Skills and perks for your character, and this can be done through the Quartermaster back at the White House Base of Operations.

The Skills include returning abilities such as the Turret and Seeker Mine, while there are new ones like the Chem Launcher and Drone. Each can be unlocked in any order, as long as you have the correct amount of Tech points. Each Skill can also be upgraded with different variants at five points, such as turning a regular turret into an Incinerator Turret or Sniper Turret.

Perks are also incredibly useful, as you can increase your inventory size, and unlock experience multipliers.
