This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Christmas is soon to be upon us, but there’s still at least one thing to be excited about before Santa comes. I’m of course talking about Fornite Season 7. If you’re wanting to know exactly what’s new in Fortnite Season 7, then you’ve come to the right place.

Map Changes

Ring in the Christmas season with the new Fortnite map. A portion of the island has been completely overhauled and is now 100% more frosty and festive. The iceberg has collided with the island, causing some of the map to freeze over.

This of course means that there are a bunch of new areas to explore. The new named locations include Frosty Flights, Polar Peak, and Happy Hamlet.

On top of this, new Expedition Outposts have appeared throughout the map. These areas contain ziplines, that aren’t just a fun new means of traversal. Players can aim, shoot, and use items on the ziplines, just as though they were on the ground.

Creative Mode

If there’s one thing that Fortnite has been sorely missing, it’s user-generated content features and tools. That’s all about to change in Season 7 with the introduction of Fortnite Creative.

This new mode, as the name implies, allows players to get creative. You can jump into your own private Fortnite island and play around with it however you like.

Creative mode can be played with friends, allowing you to design your island alongside your squad. It’s even possible to create unique game modes.

Epic Games says that “the initial release will be rough,” so there’s probably still a fair amount of ironing out that needs to be done. However, Fortnite players that want to check out the mode early can do so by purchasing the Season 7 Battle Pass.

Battle Pass owners can begin playing the mode today. For everyone else, Creative will launch on Dec. 13.

X-4 Stormwing Plane

Fortnite Season 7

The X-4 Stormwing Plane is a new vehicle introduced in Fortnite Season 7. This air-based vehicle allows players to get a huge tactical advantage on their opponents.

The plane can seat up to five people (four passengers on the wings and one pilot), making it a perfect fit for squads. When exiting the plane, players will begin skydiving, just like when exiting the Battle Bus at the start of a match.

The plane also has a powerful mounted machine gun for those who happen to jump in without a weapon. Although, the machine gun can overheat, so it can’t be used recklessly.

The pilot can definitely have some fun with this plane as it’s possible to fly upside down and even do a barrel roll!

New Skins and Cosmetics

You all saw this one coming. Yep, with the turn of a new Fortnite Season, a new Battle Pass is available. This means that there are plenty of new, sweet skins and cosmetics to work towards and unlock as you level up.

‘Tis the season to be chilly, so you can expect many Winter-themed skins this time around to keep your Fortnite avatars nice and warm. Some of these include woolly coats, a yeti outfit, and even a snug set of pajamas.

New to this season are Wraps. Wraps allow you to further customize your weapons and vehicles by giving them a new look. Wraps can be unlocked by leveling up your Battle Pass.

General Bug Fixes and UI Improvements

The Fortnite Season 7 update also brings with it a few small but welcome bug fixes and UI changes.

In terms of bug fixes, it’s stuff that will likely go unnoticed by the majority of people. Some text fixes and crash preventions are really all that Epic Games has noted this time around.

However, there have been some definite quality of life improvements when it comes to the UI. For PC players, the Fortnite task bar will now blink when successfully joining a lobby if the game is minimized.

Furthermore, minimized chat text is now no longer clickable on PC and Mobile, preventing players from opening it by accident. The only way to expand the chat text now is to click on the chat entry text box.

And that’s it for what’s new in Fortnite Season 7. If you’d like additional information about the new mode, Battle Pass contents, and more, be sure to check out our Fortnite Season 7 wiki.
