How to Beat Dracula in Smash Bros Ultimate
Super Smash Bros Ultimate is packed to the brim with content for fans to dig into, whether it’s the lengthy adventure mode World of Light or playing through each character’s Classic Mode. Whatever you choose, from time to time you might run up against one of the game’s various boss characters, like Dracula from Castlevania. Dracula is one tough customer to take down, with a wealth of punishing moves at his disposal. Here’s how to beat Dracula in Smash Bros Ultimate.
There’s really two instances in the game that you’ll run into Dracula as a boss. One in World of Light, the Adventure Mode of Smash Bros Ultimate, at the end of a dungeon, and two at the very end of Simon’s Classic Mode.
In both instances, the boss has two phases, his first with him in his human form and the second with him taking on a more monstrous form.
How to Beat Dracula’s First Phase in Smash Bros Ultimate
Despite being the first phase of the battle, this can often be the harder section of the fight. Dracula will teleport between the two sides of the arena, launching a few different short range and long range attacks.
The key to this phase is that the only section of Dracula’s body that’s vulnerable is his head. This means you can only do damage by air attacks.
Continue to jump and attack him while dodging attacks. Watch out every time Dracula teleports as the cloud of bats he turns into can damage you, so make sure to dodge it as they swoop by. When Dracula uses an attack that summons a bunch of fiery orbs, put some distance between you and the boss.
You’ll want to back up and do your best to dodge these orbs, as they can cause some serious damage.
Needless to say this battle is easiest with characters that are good in the air in Smash Bros Ultimate, and have high mobility. The Fire Emblem characters, Link, Simon, and Samus are all good choices here, but really if you’re good with any specific characters just choose them.
Before long Dracula will go down and transform into his second phase.
How to Beat Dracula’s Second Phase in Smash Bros Ultimate
Compared to the first one, this phase is much more straightforward. Most of this form’s attacks are at close range, but Dracula will occasionally charge you and move to the other side. When he does this, jump above him and dodge forward to avoid the attack.
The best strategy here is to continuously try and get behind Dracula, unleash a couple of attacks, and then get around to the other side of him again.
By keeping his focus shifting, Dracula will keep trying to switch sides to attack you, but you can dodge to the other side during the windup on most of the boss’ attacks. The one attack, in particular, that you want to watch out for is when the boss charges up a giant purple laser.
Do all you can to get to the other side of the boss when this happen, as the laser is almost impossible to avoid otherwise and causes big damage.
It’s much easier to cause damage to the boss during this phase, however, as his entire body is vulnerable. Just keep plugging away, and if you’re playing a character with ranged attacks you can keep your distance and chip away at the boss.
