How to Play Creative Mode in Fortnite

With the arrival of Season 7, Fortnite fans are finally able to edit their own maps and create their own game modes thanks to the introduction of Creative Mode. However, the mode isn’t currently available to everyone. Here’s how to play Creative Mode in Fortnite.

The first thing to note is that as of right now, not everyone who logs in to Fortnite will be able to access and the play the new Creative Mode. This is because it is in Early Access until Dec. 13.

You may be asking how you get into the Early Access preview. The solution is a very simple one: purchase the Season 7 Battle Pass. That’s all there is to it. Season 7 Battle Pass owners will be able to play the Creative Mode from today. The Battle Pass will set you back 950 V-Bucks.

As long as you have the Battle Pass, you’re ready to try out the new Creative Mode from Dec. 6. Creative mode is selectable from the game’s main menu. As soon as the game is loaded up, three options will now be presented instead of two: Save the World, Battle Royale, and Creative. Select the Creative option.

From here, you’ll be taken into the Creative Hub. The Creative Hub will allow access to your own islands, the islands of friends who are a part of your server, and featured islands from the Fortnite community.

If you’d like to edit your islands with friends or check out their islands, you can create a server for them to join. Servers are kept active for four hours at a time.

If you don’t want friends messing with your islands when visiting, you can set permissions to prevent them from editing and building while on your island. This can be done from the My Island menu, located in the in-game main menu while on your island.

When entering Creative Mode, you’ll notice some warning messages by Epic Games. These state that the game is currently in Early Access, and that there is a chance that some things can go wrong at this stage. For example, game crashes and data loss. You have been warned.

That’s all there is to know about how to play Creative Mode in Fortnite. If you want to learn about other new features that have been added in Season 7, check out our list here. For more Fortnite guides and tips & tricks, check out our guide wiki.
