Fallout 76: How to Buy More Items & Where Vendors Are

How to Buy More Items & Where Vendors Are in Fallout 76

Recommended Videos

The world of Fallout 76 is a little bit different to the wastelands we’ve explored in past entries in the series. Rather than it being inhabited by humans upon us exiting Vault 76, the wasteland of West Virginia is largely unexplored by humans. Regardless, you’re going to have some Caps burning a hole in your pocket, and you’ll likely want to know how to buy more items and where vendors are in Fallout 76.

First things first, it’s important to note that you’re not going to come across human traders like you may have done in Fallout 4 or Fallout New Vegas. Instead, the vendors you come across in Fallout 76 are often going to be robots that have been programmed by the previous survivors of Appalachia to sell goods to other explorers.

From our time exploring Appalachia, we found that all of the train stations in the game tended to have a vendor sitting inside the ticket office. After all, it makes for quite a nice counter for buying and selling goods. Places like Morgantown Train Station have a vendor within the ticket office, as do pretty much all of them.

When inside one of these stations, look for the map on the wall with pins stuck in it. This indicates where all of the train stations are in Fallout 76, allowing you to easily track down more vendors on your adventures.

Similarly, outside of these train stations and other locations across the game world, you’ll find vending machines. Though they’re more limited in what they offer, you’ll find ones for Ammo, Medical Supplies, and more.

Once you’ve found a Vendor, you’ll have to press Square on PS4, or X on Xbox One in order to start the trade. This will bring up both your inventory, and that of the vendor’s. You can now buy and sell items by pressing X when you have them selected.

In order to select items from the vendor’s inventory, you’ll need to press R2 or RT to tab over to it. The price of items you can buy, and how much you’ll get for selling your items, is listed just next to their name.

It’s worth noting that Vendors are just like you in Fallout 76, in that they have a finite amount of money. If they’re out of Caps, they will be unable to purchase anything else off you. In this case, if they have something that might help on your adventure and you still have things to sell, simply buy the items first, and then sell to recoup your Caps.

Other Ways to Buy Items in Fallout 76

The only other option you’ve really got to buy and sell items in Fallout 76 is through trading with other players. We’ve already got a guide to run you through how to trade with other players, but simply put, you’re going to need to come across them in the wasteland, and then press Triangle or Y to initiate the trade system.

You’re then free to exchange items you own for items in the other player’s inventory, or you can set prices for the items that other players may be requesting.

Outside of trading with other players, there’s no other way to buy items in Fallout 76. You’ll just have to use your hands and get crafting with all of those materials.

That’s all you need to know to buy items and where vendors are in Fallout 76. For more tips, tricks, and general information, be sure to check out our ever-expanding Fallout 76 guide wiki.
