How to Beat the Abraxas Boss Fight in Darksiders 3

At a certain point in Darksiders 3, players will be faced with a choice between two potential boss fights. If you’ve opted to fight the enigmatic demon commander Abraxas, then we’re here to help with a guide on how to beat the Abraxas boss fight in Darksiders 3.

*Warning! Some spoilers for Darksiders 3’s story ahead.*

Found in the late game area the Scar, the boss fight with Abraxas plays a part in one of Darksiders 3’s optional side quests. Through it, players are presented with the option to kill either Abraxas or the Lord of Hollows, sparing or killing the other as a result.

Should Darksiders 3 players choose to take on Abraxas, they’ll be presented with a difficult boss fight to overcome. However, with some patience and precision, he can be beaten handily.

At the start of the boss fight, Abraxas will have a few key attacks to look out for. One is a charging attack with a delayed, ranged attack via thrown blades. This closes any distance you’ll make between yourself and him in no time flat, and can be difficult to dodge and counter due to the large distance his thrown blades cover.

The others are variations on a standing combo. One is a standard three hit combo with two downward diagonal slashes and a final, downward overhead slash. The other is a feint combo, delivering the finishing blow after only one other hit.

Both can cause heavy damage, especially from the finishing blow, but are easier to predict and dodge than his charging attack.

To get through this portion with ease, stay at a close range and draw out his standing combos. Time your dodges to trigger a counterattack and then deliver only one or two hits with your weapon of choice.

This will take a while to whittle his health down but will ensure he stays in a constant loop of standing combo attacks.

After his health reaches 50 percent, Abraxas receives a buff that enhances his attack power and gives him new attacks to unleash. One is a shorter charge attack where he rears back and then smashes forward toward you.

The other is a charged ranged attack that is difficult to dodge and can even one hit kill you. He’ll stand in place for a few seconds with his sword raised before unleashing it, though the window to dodge and counter this attack is very slim.

Instead, use the same strategy from the first phase of the fight. Stay close to Abraxas, dodge and counter his combos and new charge attack, and then deliver one or two quick hits. This will keep him from using his one-hit kill move and will give you plenty of time to get some distance to heal should the need arise.

Keep it up, and before long he’ll lie defeated before you. You’ll receive the soul of Abraxas which can then be taken to the Lord of Hollows, unlocking a key cutscene in Darksiders 3’s story.

Hopefully, this makes it a little easier to figure out how to beat the Abraxas boss fight in Darksiders 3.
