How to Switch to First-Person Camera Mode in Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 is probably the most anticipated game of 2018, and for good reason, too. It serves as the prequel to the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption, which originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360. This time around, players will be taking control of Arthur Morgan, a trusted member of the Dutch Van Der Linde gang. While playing through the game, if you’re wondering how to switch to the first-person camera mode in Red Dead Redemption 2, here’s what you need to know.
How to Switch to First-Person
Red Dead Redemption 2, much like Grand Theft Auto V before it, features a first-person mode, allowing players to explore the Frontier as they wish. Gunplay, horse-riding, and even conversations with NPCs are all built with first and third-person in mind. Rockstar kept this quiet for a while, but the mode shines, allowing players to change perspectives at ease. Switching to first-person is easy enough, plus it’s definitely worth it, given Red Dead Redemption 2’s stunning environments.
To move into first-person, press the touchpad on PlayStation 4, or the View button on Xbox One. Touching this button cycles through all the different views in the game. Stop when you reach first-person, so you can enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2 in full immersion. Don’t hold down the button, however, as this will place you in cinematic view mode.
When you’re out on long horse rides with your gang members, it might be good idea to go to cinematic mode as well. This gives you a good view of the game’s gorgeous environments, and also adds to the overall immersion.
How to Switch Back
To switch back, press the touchpad on PlayStation 4 or the View button on Xbox One. This will cycle back through all the possible views back to your preferred position. Again, don’t hold the button down, as this will initiate Red Dead Redemption 2’s cinematic mode.
Is There A Trophy/Achievement?
There is no achievement or trophy for staying in first-person for the entirety of the game, nor are there any specific challenges. It is unknown if any will be added with future DLC at this time.
