Assassin’s Creed Odyssey New Game Plus: Everything You Need to Know

Everything You Need to Know About New Game Plus in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Recommended Videos

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is finally available to players, and though it has a ton of quests and side content for players to dive into, all things must come to an end eventually. Or not, if you’re a video game with New Game Plus. With Assassin’s Creed Origins getting New Game Plus via an update post-launch, some players may be wondering if there’s New Game Plus in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Set in ancient Greece, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey lets players loose in a world full gameplay options to choose from. They can leap and climb around on ancient architecture, explore the seas in search of long lost cities and do battle with armies in historic clashes. That’s to say nothing of the main story. In it, players set out on a mission for revenge against a mysterious individual who killed their entire family.

This is in addition to choosing and developing their own character. Everything from the main character’s gender to how they interact with NPCs through dialogue decided by the player.

Is There New Game Plus in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Right Now?

Unfortunately, there is no New Game Plus mode in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at launch. However, that doesn’t mean that New Game Plus is never coming to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. In fact, quite the contrary. The game’s creative director Jonathan Dumont, in an interview with Game Rant, confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will get the mode post-launch. “Yes, there will be! It will be a little bit later than the launch.”

Though we don’t have a set date as of yet, here’s hoping we’ll see New Game Plus in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey before the end of the year. 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins received its New Game Plus mode in February this year, though, so we might have to wait a little longer.

What’s Going to Be Different in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey New Game Plus

Though we don’t have any specifics just yet on exactly how New Game Plus in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will work, chances are it’ll be similar to what we saw in Origins’. This saw players restarting the story missions and quests of Origins, while retaining their equipment, abilities, upgrades, leveled character, XP, and inventory.

To balance the playing field a little bit, the mode also bumps up the difficulty a smidge, so enemies will likely take more damage to drop, and will wipe out your health bar in fewer hits.

This is, of course, just us making an educated guess based on previous appearances of the mode in the series and in other titles. As soon as we have the specifics for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s upcoming mode, we’ll be sure to update this post and let you know.

How to Start New Game Plus in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

While you can’t start New Game Plus in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey right now, there’s plenty you can do to prepare for its release in the meantime. Of course, before you can start a new playthrough in the upcoming mode, you’ll need to beat Assassin’s Creed Odyssey once already.

Once you’ve completed the story, though, you might want to spend some time enjoying the post-game content of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. This will also allow you to level up your character a little more. Perfect for when you face off against the tougher enemies in New Game Plus.

As soon as we have further specifics on how to start New Game Plus in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we’ll update this post and let you know.
