How to Crouch in Spider-Man PS4

Here’s how you can be a little sneaky spider and crouch in Spider-Man PS4.

Spider-Man on PlayStation 4, developed by Insomniac Games, has finally dropped and offers players a plethora of different activities to participate in a sprawling rendition of New York City.

Players will be swinging from skyscraper to skyscraper, stopping street crime and fighting baddies, searching for old backpacks that belonged to Peter Parker back in the day, and progressing through a 20-hour story which will have Spidey taking on a menagerie of classic villains. During that time, Spidey’s gonna need to get stealthy, and one of the best ways to do so is to get low.

Combat takes heavy inspiration from the Batman Arkham and Assassin’s Creed series, with an emphasis on quick time button pushes and high-multiplier combinations.

Another tenant of combat is the upgrade-able technology which gives the player more flexibility in how they dispatch enemies, although they aren’t necessary to win most, if not all, fights. Even though combat is generally approachable, it isn’t always the answer!

In those moments, stealth is a great option for dispatching enemies and is even required in some levels. Crouching is a wonderful stealth technique that will allow players to better conceal themselves and perform surprise takedowns.

In the appropriate situations, Spidey doesn’t crouch, per se. When he is close to an edge though he can “perch”, which anchors him to that point and shifts the camera up so players can see what is below the overhang.

An indicator will pop up when a perch is available, prompting players to push in the left joystick (L3) to enter the perch state.

From the perch, the player can perform a number of different stealthy, web-based takedowns.

The most basic takedown involves Spider-Man simply webbing up an unsuspecting enemy and leaving them stuck high out of sight but as the player upgrades Spidey’s tech, a wider range of takedown options will open up, including the ability to throw web grenades, which can web up multiple enemies at once.

That’s all you need to know to crouch as everyone’s favorite Spider-Man. For more coverage on the game, make sure to check out our Spider-Man guide wiki!
