How to Use amiibo in Super Mario Odyssey

Recommended Videos

As you might expect, Super Mario Odyssey features amiibo support that lets you unlock cool items and outfits within the game itself. To make use of this function, all you need are the relevant Mario-related amiibo, tap to scan them on the right analog stick of your Joy-Con, and you’ll be able to reap the rewards.

The new amiibo being released alongside the game feature characters like Mario, Peach, and Bowser dressed in wedding outfits. These will allow you to unlock new costumes within the game, including a special wedding dress for Mario himself if you happen to have the bridal Peach amiibo at hand. However, if you don’t have any of the NFC-enabled figures with you or if you don’t want to go out of your way to buy them, you don’t have to. All these items can be unlocked simply by playing through the game, so you can collect everything normally, without having to spend any extra money.

You’ll want to talk to an NPC named Uncle Amiibo, who’s unlocked after you retrieve the second Multi-Moon item in the Desert Kingdom. The little Roomba robot can be found outside the Odyssey airship, near the Hint Toad.
